New London restaurants opening in August 2022
August can be one of the quietest months for new restaurants (the calm before the storm in September) - but there are still some strong new openings to look forward to.
Chelsea - 275 Old Brompton Road, London SW5 9JA
Mirya comes from one of Ukraine's top chefs, Yurii Kovryzhenko, who has had to remain in London due to the war with Russia. He's now opening his own Ukrainian restaurant here, with the plan to have it staffed by Ukrainian refugees. Expect classic Ukrainian dishes like borsch and Chicken Kyiv, as well as his own dishes like zucchini pancakes with stracciatella.
Marylebone - 105 Marylebone High St, London W1U 4RS
This is the first new Granger & Co from Bill Granger in some time, and he's taking over a classic space in Marylebone which once housed Maison Sagne. Expect all-day dining with a menu that features global cuisine with some Australian touches. The ricotta hotcakes with banana, a signature dish, will of course be making an appearance.
Islington - 77 Upper Street, London N1 0NU
This is a new mini food hall in Islington, from the same people who had a hit with Shelter Hall in Brighton. It'll be home to four kitchens which will change from time to time. The starting line-up is particularly impressive with Korean food from Tiger and Rabbit, West African flavours from Zoe's Ghana Kitchen and also food from Big Has and the cult favourite Norman's Cafe.
Canary Wharf - 15 Water Street, London E14 9SB
Opening in Canary Wharf, this restaurant is part of the new Tribe hotel, which comes from Ennismore (who also own The Hoxton and Gleneagles hotels). Here, it's being billed as a hit of California sunshine in Canary Wharf with West Coast USA meets East London vibes, including dishes like Tater tots with a cacio e pepe filling and pecorino aioli.
Soho - 10 Old Compton Street, London W1D 4TF
This is the second new Burger & Beyond to open this summer, following an earlier Borough Yards launch. As ever, it's all about the burgers with their signature Bacon Butter Burger being a must-have. The Soho restaurant will have some exclusives such as an XL Pork Belly Burger as well as a crispy cheeseburger-stuffed wonton with burger sauce on the side.
Chinatown - Cranbourn St, London WC2H 7JH
Four Seasons have three popular restaurants already in Chinatown and this new opening underneath The Hippodrome casino will make it four. It's something of a new concept for them, with a design that's a "nod to old Hong Kong". Expect their legendary roast duck, dim sum and more.
